can't open project (.slp file) in newly installed sleap

Hi!

I just installed SLEAP v1.5.1 on a new computer (Dell Pro Max 14 MC14250) and I am trying to open a project that I've started on a different computer. I have the .slp file, but when I try to open it via the Open Project function I get the error message "Unable to load D:/SLEAP_training/20250115_labels.v001.slp". It's on a backup disk, which is why it starts with D:/ (it has always lived on a backup disk and hasn't had problems before).

The error message in the command line is much longer, and I will paste it here:

Apologies for the poor formatting. I'm not sure if it's because I am trying to open it on a new computer, because I am opening it in 1.5.1 for the first time (it was created in the prior version), or because I am using a new graphics card (NVIDIA RTX PRO 500 Blackwell Generation Laptop GPU).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hi @sophiaanner !

Could you try uninstalling and re-installing SLEAP, this should pull in the latest sleap-io (v0.5.5) which fixes the above issue!

Thank you for this suggestion! I did this, and it let me open my project one time. But since then, when I go to open the .slp file, nothing happens on the GUI and the command prompt gives me an error message that I do not understand. Any insights? I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling (using python 3.11). This is the error message:

To anyone who's in the same boat - this had something to do with starting the project in v1.4 and trying to open it in v1.5. What I ended up doing was merging all the individual files for each video's predictions from the most recent time I'd run inference, then saving this as a new project.

God, this is so annoying, my project is not opening at all after this new version update and I am getting same keyerror:'filename' on command promp. All my labeled data just became useless

We're sorry about the rough bits here, it's been challenging to maintain full backwards compatibility despite our extensive testing.

To be clear: this is on v1.5.2 that we just released?

Rest assured that the labeled data is not useless and should still be accessible in the SLP file, even if the format is not readable in the current version.

If you haven't shared them with us yet, would you mind uploading your SLP project here?

Hi @talmo, I am on v1.5.2. I've uploaded my SLP project that won't open to the link you shared. In the meantime, I am working on a new project that's been unfortunately giving me some issues as well (like: #2442). I have a new issue that I'm curious if you've ever encountered. When I go to run training, it will begin the initialization but then at a certain point in the process (shortly after "Sanity Checking Dataloader" reaches 100%), my laptop will crash and I get a "HYPERVISOR_ERROR" message.

Do you have any experience with this? I've tried most troubleshooting suggestions that come up when you google the error, but to no avail.
