Hi, thank you for your suggestion. It was a hard time to find a good service and I wasn't aware of perenual. I'll check this out, so maybe it can be integrated in one of the next releases if it's appropriate.

An integration with perenual sounds great, it'll be great to have plant information directly from as well as plant guids to ease farming :)

There is another API that could be used: floracodex
It's implemented in this project: plant-it

Hi, so I revisited this issue and I'm thankful for your suggestions. I took the time today to look into the recommended substitutions for Trefle and unfortunately I'm still not convinced. But let me be more specific. Perenual: I don't know who's behind this project. There is no information on the author and the origin of the offered data. There is a terms and conditions page, but it seems like it was made via a generator just by inserting the website of the project. While I appreciate the offering of such a service, I don't find it trustworthy enough (yet). It might just vanish after a while and I do also need a certain level of transparency. FloraCodex: This project seems to be an API only backend - apparently using the old Trefle data (it seems). There is no information on the author, too, and this project might just vanish sooner or later. It seems there is an LLC behind it, which makes the intransparency even more confusing. I don't see a reason for this. But then again I'm from Germany and companies are obliged to provide an imprint on their platforms. Open Plant Book: Seems also to be a quick API backend - maybe even using the old trefle system? But still no transparency on the author and possible longevity of the project. Conclusion: I don't see the benefits of integration any of them - at least at the current state. I know it's frustrating and I definitely miss Trefle, too, as this was a very promising and great project. But for now I don't want to put any efforts into integrating one of the mentioned above, as they may just vanish sooner or later and there is no transparency on the authors and maintainers. I want HortusFox to be reliable and professional and I'd find it disappointing when an integration would only last for a few months while not knowing who's behind all these services.

Please also note that, e.g., the FloraCodex documentation is incomplete. There is no way for a successful integration for now.

They do not provide API but the data is available for download and use ?

To my knowledge, they do not provide care data for plants, but rather data related to taxonomy, geography and scientific names. Also an API is mandatory for dynamical implementation and accessibility to all users who want to use this feature. I know, it's frustrating, but for now there is nothing I can do about it. We have to wait for an appropriate service in future. I've considered launching my own API backend, but this requires a tremendous effort from the community to fill the database with all the plant data as it's hardly feasible for a single person.
