How does the meal planner work with tags? #4156

Hello 😃, I just setup Tandoor and also added a few recipes and I was very curious about the smart planning option for the meal plan. My recipes have some tags attached, like "chicken", "beef", "pork" or "indian". I've also added a tag "meat" which is the parent of "chicken", "beef" and "pork" with the hope that I can simply search for the parent ("meat") and then get everything that's a child of "meat". This doesn't seem to work as neither the search nor the meal planner add any meal with the parent tag only I also though that the meal planner would handle multiple tags as an "or" statement. But if I add two tags that no recipe has in common, I don't get any recipes scheduled in the planner at all. Did I misunderstand something? 😅 |

the smart planner does not use tag inheritance to determine the available tags. It also uses an AND combination. This can certainly be improved in the future but its currently limited to this. The best case in my opinion would be to allow you to use saved searches as smart plan bases but I need to do some backend work to get that working. |

yes, the nesting feature is very rudimentarily and requires a major overhaul
